Batteries charged!

I finished these two projects last weekend, but when I went to take a photo, the batteries on both my cameras needed recharging. So, that done, here they are.

The skirt is made using Simplicity 9854. I decided to adapt the pattern slightly - I added the applique and the trim to the bottom of one side and then made it reversible. It's a bit too long for Cara at the moment (oops) and so will probably be put away for a while till it fits her (possibly a few years!)

The fabric on the second side is Amy Butler's Full Moon Polka Dot in Tangerine. I am absolutely in love with the pattern and have it in a number of other colours!

I love the combination of the orange with the Polka Dot and made a tote bag using the same two fabrics. However - a certain small person decided she wanted it, so I haven't been able to photo it as she took it to Nanny's house and that is where it still is.

After that bag was 'stolen' I then made the one below. I used this tutorial - http://www.belleepoquewhimsy.com/bias-tape-tote-tute/
Fantastic and so easy to follow. I think the possibilities with fabric and bias combinations are endless. I already have another cut out ready to sew (using another Amy Butler Polka Dot!)

Taking the plunge

So...I set this blog up a little while back but haven't yet had the 'courage' (not sure if that's the right word!) to write anything.

Just over a month ago, I gave up on my Photo A Day project, after having taken a photo every day for the past two years. In this past month I have realised that the PAD project acted as my 'diary'. I love looking back over my photos and seeing what I was doing this time last year. I don't miss taking a photo each day, but I do miss the diary element, so...I figure this blog could be the way to go. Who knows ah? I guess only time will tell.

So - today was the first day back at work after half term last week. I picked Cara up from my parents' house and it was just magical to listen to her in the car on the way home.

It went something like this: "Mud, uuurrr. Can't go over it, can't go under it, got to go through it. Water, uuurrr. Can't go over it, can't go under it, got to go through it. Cave. It's dark. Bear. Quick, quick, run. Back through water, back through mud. Home. Go upstairs. Oops, forgot to shut door. Back downstairs, shut door, back upstairs, hide under cover. WE'RE NOT GOING ON A BEAR HUNT EVER AGAIN."
